Laya will serve as the curate of Holy Trinity Idle, St Cuthbert Wrose and St John Greengates. She trained for ordination at Ridley Hall in Cambridge, studying the BA Theology, Ministry and Mission.
After growing up near the sea in South Wales, then living in London and Cambridge, Laya is looking forward to living somewhere with hills and lyrical accents again, but is less excited about the increased rain!
She has always been a Christian, experiencing the diversity of the Body of Christ from Roman Catholicism to Pentecostalism. She felt called to the Church of England and to ordination when she was 17. After her A Levels, she joined the Stepney Intern Scheme in East London, before beginning ordination training.
She is passionate about the church being light in the darkness, trauma-informed theology and introducing people to Jesus. Outside of church, she loves spending time with friends, playing a variety of musical instruments and sewing.
