Steve Gibbin

I was born and bred in Yorkshire and, after a gap year working in various factories, I studied philosophy at the University of Hull where I met Catherine, my wife. We have now been married for 22 years and have four children, three of whom are at St Aidan’s in Harrogate and one who is at Oatlands Junior School. Although I did not come from a Christian background, during my time at Hull I met Christian friends and through them came to understand the meaning of grace and love as revealed in the life of Jesus. It is this faith that has sustained me throughout my adult life, and which has brought me to the point of ordained ministry.
After leaving university I completed a Masters and PGCE. For the last twenty 22 years I have worked as a teacher of religious studies, firstly in a state school in east Leeds, and for the last 17 years at the Grammar School at Leeds where I have enjoyed various roles. Aside from spending time with family and friends, I am an avid reader of both fiction and nonfiction, enjoy creative writing and music, walking, gardening and watching Liverpool FC, though these days, that is not as fun as it once was.
