Bradford churches learn more about prayer

Nearly fifty people from across the Bradford Episcopal Area have been learning how they can pray for others at church services.

‘Help me to pray for others’ was a lay training evening which took place at St. Peter’s Shipley. With the focus on encouraging prayer ministry in churches, it was led by vicar, the Revd John Rainer with a series of workshops led by lay members of the church prayer ministry team.

Sessions included ‘How to Pray Aloud’, ‘How to Start a Prayer Ministry Team’, ‘Physical and Emotional Healing’, ‘Praying with and for Children’, ‘the Healing Power of Forgiveness’ and ‘When Prayer Seems Unanswered’.

“The day finished with a time of prayer ministry where people put into practice all that had been learnt,” says Bradford Lay Training Officer, Sharon Bavington.

“There was a wonderful sense of the Holy Spirit as people testified to what God had been doing during the prayer time.

“Many said they felt more confident after attending the event: ‘I now feel I CAN pray for others in their presence, I am confident that this IS what God wants me to do’, “

One delegate said “I felt called to attend the day as soon as I saw it advertised, so glad I did!”
