The final pieces of the jigsaw are being put in place to make the fourth Rastrick Beer Festival another highly successful event.
The hard working organisers are putting the finishing touches to their plans for the fourth festival, which will be held at St John’s church community hall, off Gooder Lane Rastrick this weekend.
The previous, highly popular events have raised thousands of pounds for both St John’s Church and local charities. They have also attracted hundreds of visitors from all parts of Calderdale and Kirklees and from much further afield, including Oldham, York and Sheffield.
The organising committee has again agreed to support St John’s and two local charities.
This year they will support the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Whiteknights Emergency Voluntary Service, which uses motorbikes to transport blood and urgent samples to hospitals and hospices across north and West Yorkshire.
The Air Ambulance is a dedicated helicopter emergency service for the Yorkshire and Humber region. They provide a swift response time and access to isolated locations.
It is a registered charity, which needs to raise over £9,900 a day to keep both air ambulances maintained and in the air.
The Whiteknights is also a charity which provides a voluntary urgent courier service to the NHS, completely free of charge. It costs £20,000 a year to run and 100 per cent of that comes from donations.
Chairman of the organising committee, Roger Ellis, said they were delighted with the response they had received for the previous festivals, adding they were confident that this fourth festival would be just as successful as the previous ones.
“We are working hard to make sure we put into practice all that we have learned from previous festivals so we can make sure this latest one is just as successful and enjoyable.”
He said they were very grateful to all their sponsors, both corporate and personal, for their tremendous support and were pleased that this year a number of new sponsors had come forward to support the event.
Roger said a lot of hard work had been put in by a very dedicated team of helpers which would help ensure another successful event.
“I would like to urge people to come along and support us and these very worthy charities as they have done with our previous events because it promises to be another first class and very enjoyable festival.”
The opening on September 19 runs from 3pm until 10.30pm and on the 20th from 1pm until 10.30pm.
There will be a wide selection of local and regional ales and ciders available as well as food.
