Our three cathedrals have joined forces to produce a specially-streamed on-line Commemoration for Holocaust Memorial Day on Wednesday January 27.
The Commemoration will be ‘hosted’ by Wakefield Cathedral and will include an introduction by Bishop of Leeds the Rt Revd Nick Baines to the theme for this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day, ‘Be the light in the darkness’.This is the third time during the pandemic that our cathedrals have linked up in this way as part of their commitment to work together for the mission and flourishing of the whole Diocese of Leeds. Commenting in advance of Holocaust Memorial Day the Dean of Wakefield, Simon Cowling, said: ‘It has been a privilege to work with Dean Jerry of Bradford and Dean John of Ripon in developing this prayerful and reflective event.
Remembering those who endured the Holocaust and subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur is a vital way of witnessing to the continuing need in our world for justice, peace and reconciliation’.
The Commemoration will go live at 7pm on Wednesday, January 27 and can be viewed via the following link https://youtu.be/4p7PG64yT6o
