A service of Holy Communion, gathering postgraduate students from across the city of Leeds, was presided over for the first time by newly ordained priest, the Revd Dr Che Seabourne.
St George’s Church is privileged to have a thriving student ministry. Over the last nine months this has been formally expanded to include postgraduate students, under the oversight of Che, a new curate, who was ordained by the Bishop of Kirkstall at Leeds Minster on Saturday, June 26.
Members of the Postgraduate Fellowship at St George’s are also part of other small groups and networks, which meet across the city of Leeds and beyond. These include a long-standing iStudents group, for international students, who are drawn from a variety of backgrounds. 
The International Students Intern, Jessie Tan, who works with Transformation Leeds, helps to lead studies as part of that group, and accompanied Che as he presided at his first service of Holy Communion in the Rectory garden.
The service drew together around twenty postgraduates, from different backgrounds and at different stages of their journey of faith.
Che said, “It was a tremendous privilege to preside at the Eucharist for the first time, and for such a wonderfully diverse group.
“Postgraduate study can be very isolating, and I pray that gathering together at the Lord ’s Table was a blessing for our students.
“Thank you so much to our talented lay leaders who support this ministry.”
