Three peaks climbed for Sick Children\'s Trust

The Yorkshire three peaks challenge has been completed by the vicar of St Oswald’s Church, Guiseley to raise money for the Sick Children’s Trust.

The Revd David Pickett, as well as a priest in the Diocese of Leeds, is a chaplain for the Royal Navy Reserve. The eleven hour challenge, completed alongside officers of the reserves ship HMS Ceres, was completed to support the four year old son of one of the petty officers, who has recently been diagnosed with cancer.

Over three thousand pounds has been raised in total and will be donated to the Sick Children’s Trust, to support the work they do to enable families with a seriously ill child in hospital to be able to stay together.

The Revd David Pickett said, “As a chaplain I am proud and keen to serve my queen and country.”

“However, I am also conscious of the important civic and Christian duty we have as chaplains, to serve and support God’s children and those in need.”
