Wild City Retreat - reflecting on nature in an urban context

At Leeds Church Institute's next Wild City Retreat, renowned artist Shaeron Caton-Rose will be helping us to recall the meanings and rhythms of the season.

Saturday 27 January, 10-12.30pm at Meanwood Valley Urban Farm, LS7 2QG

Wild City Retreats take place once a quarter, and allow participants to become aware of seasonal traditions, festivals and the changes within the natural world as well as providing topical issues to reflect upon.

Shaeron says, "Wild City Retreats offer an opportunity to ‘stop in our tracks’, to take time out and consider the rhythm of the seasons within an urban context; through reflection and creativity to think about our lives in relation to nature in our city.

"Each retreat starts with a general introduction to the themes we will be exploring and a meditation or reflection. This is followed by the opportunity to participate in creative activities alongside spending time outside in nature.

"There is no pressure to be creative, I also provide lots of reading matter for those who prefer words to pictures!  And some just like to spend the whole time outside. We alway finish with a chance to share what we have been thinking about or making (again non-obligatory) and some type of concluding gathering activity.

"Meanwood Farm is a lovely environment and there's a cafe on site too for those who need refreshments or would like to continue talking after the event.

"I provide tea and coffee at the beginning, and there is a charge of £5 towards room hire for non LCI members".

Please book by emailing - events@leedschurchinstitute.org or calling LCI on 0113 3917928.
