First published on: 26th January 2023

Mothers’ Union in our diocese are running a Domestic Abuse Awareness Day on Friday, February 24 at St John the Divine in Rastrick (pictured).

Taking place between 10.30am and 2.30pm, everyone is welcome and it's an opportunity to become more aware of domestic abuse in its many forms and to pray for guidance to know the support that the Mothers' Union can provide.

Guest speakers from the Pennine Domestic Abuse Partnership and the Rosalie Ryrie Foundation will also feature as part of the event.

Elaine Swinhoe, President of the Mothers’ Union in the Diocese of Leeds, said, “We hope that through working with local domestic abuse organisations and parishes we can raise awareness of all forms of abuse in our communities.

“This conference is free and open to anyone who wants to find out more as we prayerfully seek God’s guidance on what we can do to minimise abuse.”

Nationally Mothers' Union now works with Women's Aid to help end domestic abuse, therefore the team in Leeds decided to start 2023 with a conference to raise awareness in our diocese.
