Firm Roots, a cancer support group founded by one of our clergy, will feature on BBC1’s Songs of Praise on Sunday, February 2.
Revd Helen Jones, curate at Holy Trinity, Huddersfield is interviewed by Revd Kate Bottley about the prayerful help offered by the group.
“Firm Roots is part of the Christian cancer ministry that I run and filming took place in Lancashire at one of our prayer groups and then an interview of myself,” Revd Helen said.
When the Rev Helen discovered she had breast cancer a few years ago, she wanted to talk with other Christians to ask where God was in the middle of cancer, and to ask them to pray for each other as they went through their cancer journey.
“That’s how the first Firm Roots group was started, and today there are 8 groups across the country,” Revd Helen said.
Songs of Praise will be broadcast on 1.15pm on Sunday, February 2.
