Three Snow Kings of Wensleydale are...thanks to church youngsters!

The snow fell deep and crisp in the heart of Wensleydale, where wise children who worship regularly at St Alkelda's Church in Middleham made their own rather chilly “Three Kings” to mark Epiphany Sunday.

St Alkelda’s has been running a monthly family service for over a year now, called Sunday@3, said Revd Scott Lunn.

“Epiphany Sunday, was a new challenge as the dale was deep in snow.  The children rose to this challenge, however, and enthusiastically made three wise-(snow)men journeying to church.

“Despite the abundance of snow, making camels was thought a challenge too far!”

Meanwhile in urban Bradford, Sky News feature the importance of community work by  St John’s, Thorpe Edge during the freezing weather.

Regulars at its day centre and community cafe spoke of the value of being in a warm space, with meals from £1.50 plus free tea and coffee.
