Over 5000 trees have been planted recently at Bishop Young Academy in the Seacroft area.
In conjunction with the Plant a Tree Today Foundation, the Green Task Force,
The White Rose Forest and the school, the Leeds Centre for Mission helped plant the trees as part of plans for a forest in the grounds of the school.
During the planting students and staff got involved in the work, working with and learning from the tree planting professionals and enjoying nice weather as well.
There was also opportunity to talk about the beauty of God’s creation and the importance of looking after it.
Neil Obbard, Lead Evangelist at the Leeds Centre of Mission, said: “The tree planting event at Bishop Young Academy went extremely well.
“Over 5000 trees were planted throughout the grounds of the Academy.
“We did this in partnership with the PATT foundation and the Green Taskforce.
“The pupils were amazing, and they helped and were taught many different things – such as ‘you have to plant 13 trees to offset the carbon emissions from your house for one year’.
“The pupils and the teachers enjoyed the planting as the weather was so great!”
