Farsi speaking asylum seekers and university students were among those baptised recently at two joyous services, held at St George's Church in the centre of Leeds.
In total twenty three baptisms and one affirmation of baptism by full immersion took place on Sunday, May 15, during St George's morning and evening services.
Ali, an Iranian Christian, shared, "Since I've become a Christian, I know inner peace in my life, I know that I belong to a family, I feel freedom every day in my life.
"The other thing I'd like to say [as an asylum seeker] is that I'm not sure what will happen for tomorrow, but I'm really thankful that God has promised me, since I've become Christian, I would have eternal life."
Candidates were prepared for baptism by members of the clergy and ministry team, and continue to grow in discipleship, particularly by being part of small groups, including the Farsi group that is part of St George's Church.
Associate Rector Eve Ridgeway shared, "It was wonderful to have so many baptisms this term, and to hear testimonies of God's faithfulness and guidance.
"We pray that many more people from all backgrounds will come to know the love of Jesus through the community of St George's and local churches across Leeds and beyond."
