Children and their teddy bears get sporty at one of our churches

Children who went down to Settle Parish Church got a big surprise thanks to its very own Teddy sports day held recently.
The "Teddy's Olympic Family Fun Day" included the chance to send your toy down a zip wire from the church tower, plus a Teddys Graveyard Treasure Hunt.
There was a great response to the 'Best Dressed Teddy in an Olympic outfit" and the font was covered in sporty looking teddies in outfits created by their young owners.
Edith Diggles, one of the organisers said: “The opportunity to send teddy down the zip wire from the church tower and across the churchyard was popular with all ages. Brave teddies were given a little prayer sticker on their tummies before the adventure began!
“It was a super community event and we are enormously grateful to all the amazing people who supported us both locals and holiday makers who saw the bunting, heard the music and smelt the bacon, burgers and sausages.  Special thanks to the local businesses which donated raffle prizes - Drake and Macefield, The House that Jack built, Creative Hair Studio and Wholesale Bee.
“And finally thanks to our vicar, Revd Julie Clarkson, who came up with the original idea, for her prayers and vision which ensured that the sun shone and everyone smiled all day!”
