Skipton Library is hosting a display about the great work of the Towards Carbon Neutral Churches in Craven group this November.
The group of five churches comprises Burton in Lonsdale, Carleton, Draughton, Embsay with Eastby and Holy Trinity Skipton.
The display explains how the churches are working towards the Church of England’s target to be net carbon zero by 2030.
The churches have a diversity of responses, depending on the building and its use.
These developments include improving insulation, switching to a genuinely ‘green’ electricity supply and decarbonising heating by moving away from fossil fuels.
The display also shows some of the ‘Eco Church’ activities which the churches have made, which they believe will benefit the planet, biodiversity and people.
The display will be in Skipton library until Friday, November 25, before touring other libraries, including Bentham in December, Ingleton in January and Embsay in February.
This initiative comes from the NYCC Libraries Beyond Carbon Group.
At the heart of communities up and down the county, libraries are hubs of sustainability and they are the original recyclers through the loan and sharing of books.
Providing information and access to resources for communities to underpin their own climate action, is at the core to what they do.
