A farewell service for the Revd Canon Robin Gamble - Bishop’s Advisor in Church Growth - was held at Bradford Cathedral on the evening of Sunday, October 1.
The service saw the Cathedral filled with family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers to hear all about Robin's work and to celebrate his achievements over his long career.
The Revds Sharon Ward and Phil Arnold opened the service, and there was music throughout the evening from a band led by the Revd Rolf Mason.
Songs played included 'He’s Coming on the Clouds (The Lion and the Lamb)' and 'We Want to See Jesus Lifted High'.
A slideshow of photos from Robin's career was played, before those gathered got a chance to learn more about him through his own recollections and a couple of interviews.
There was more music, readings and a short sermon from Robin.
The service then wrapped up with a presentation led by the Rt Revd Nick Baines, the Bishop of Leeds, and a prayer led by the Rt Revd Dr Toby Howarth, the Bishop of Bradford.
Bishop Nick said: “Robin is a unique man with a unique ministry.
“I pray he will have a rich and long retirement, but I know he won’t just stop!
“Thank God for Robin and Maureen.”
