The Diocese of Leeds has shared resources to help our parishes respond to the crisis in Ukraine, hosting a well-attended webinar to support people all across our region.
The webinar was hosted by the Bishop of Bradford, the Rt Revd Toby Howarth, and featured a briefing on the current situation from the Bishop of Leeds, the Rt Revd Nick Baines, who has been working in the House of Lords in the issue over the last month.
Attendees heard from Diocesan Secretary Jonathan Wood about guidance from the Church of England, as well as how the diocese is helping to make our properties able to host refugees.
Ewhen Chymera, from the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain, spoke about what local Ukrainian networks are doing to support refugees, and how our parishes to connect with them.
Katy Armistead, Team Leader of Beacon Bradford, talked about the broader context of the refugee situation in the United Kingdom, before Bishop Toby walked attendees through more resources and introduced Elaine Swinhoe, Diocesan Mothers’ Union President, who spoke about what the Mothers’ Union in our diocese are doing.
The Revd Henriette Howarth, Diocesan Prayer and Spirituality Co-Ordinator, finished the evening by sharing some spiritual resources and leading those attending in prayer for Ukraine.
All these resources can be found in our ‘Responding to the crisis in Ukraine’ section, which can be found here.
