A moving exhibition on the theme of Coming Home for Christmas has been attracting visitors to one of our Huddersfield churches.
Hepworth Church, in the Upper Holme Valley Team near Holmfirth, hosts a Christmas exhibition every year where local people, schools, church groups and community organisations respond creatively to a different theme.
In recent years, these have included ‘Light in the Darkness’, ‘Peace at Christmas’, ‘Follow the Star’, ‘Light of the World’ and ‘A Christmas Gift’.
This year’s event was titled ‘Coming Home for Christmas’, and led to entries covering big subjects like coming home from the war, homelessness, the Christmas story itself, as well as the home life we treasure.
The Revd Keith Griffin, Team Vicar in the Upper Holme Valley benefice, said: “Our church is a parish with a great community spirit.
“Visitors came along all weekend to appreciate the displays and enjoy seasonal refreshments.
“The exhibits will stay in place decorating the building throughout the Christmas season.”
