Artists with a Leeds connection are being invited to respond to an upcoming display being hosted at Holy Trinity Boar Lane in the city.
The ‘Our Earth, Our City' exhibition will be taking place at the church from Monday, November 7 to Sunday, November 27.
Alongside events, talks, and concerts inspired by the beauty and fragility of our planet, the heart of Our Earth, Our City is the chance to view Gaia Earth, a touring artwork by Luke Jerram.
Gaia is a 6 metre in diameter replica of our planet, created using detailed NASA imaging of the Earth’s surface.
Gaia Earth is designed to recreate the ‘overview effect’ experienced by astronauts when they view the Earth from space, allowing each of us to reflect on the extraordinary planet we share together.
As part of the Gaia Earth art installation, artists connected to Leeds are being invited to create a piece of art on the theme of ‘Our Earth, Our City’ and related to the topic of the environment.
Age groups for the competition are as follows: 0-6, 7-11, 12-16, 17-21, and 21 and over.
The top three entries in each age group will be framed and exhibited in the cafe space in Holy Trinity Church during the exhibition.
Other shortlisted submissions will be shown on the large screen in the building as a rolling display. 
The judge for the competition is David Hawkins, former Rector of St George’s Church, Leeds and former Bishop of Barking and now working as an artist from his home in the Yorkshire Dales.
Prizes will be art materials for the entries placed first, second and third in the age groups up to 16.
For ages 17 and above vouchers for art supplies from Fred Aldous worth £50, £30 and £15 will be awarded to the first, second and third places in each age category.

Our Earth, Our City aims to provide as many opportunities as possible to experience Gaia as an inspirational artwork, whilst offering people of all faiths and none a chance to think about what our world means to them.
The project offers an over-arching but positive ecological message, encouraging visitors to think creatively and engagingly about how they can help tackle climate change.
There will be a variety of exhibition materials, the opportunity for visitors to make practical lifestyle commitments and a programme of concerts and talks.
Other highlights include:
• Leading local chamber choirs and classical performers; concerts from Leeds Guild of Singers, Cantabile Chamber Choir, and students of leading choral conductor Dr Andrew Padmore.
• Award-winning multi-instrumentalist Dave Bainbridge joining forces with Lord of the Rings vocalist Sally Minnear.
• Christian Aid, Leeds Craftivists and other charities leading talks and workshops.
• Screening of Leonardo DiCaprio’s film Before the Flood.
• Leading climate activist and environmental scientist Less Waste Laura sharing her experiences of COP27.
• Visits from local schools and youth groups.
• Local sports stars popping in to say hello.
