The Anglican Minority Network (AMEN) and USPG (United Society Partners in the Gospel), together with two of our Bishops are inviting clergy and lay leaders to “Living Well” – a national conference at the St George’s Centre, Leeds on Saturday, November 4.
Bishop Smitha Prasadam and Bishop Arun Arora will be at the event whose central theme is what 'Living Well' looks like for Christians. Topics include how to live well within oneself (focusing on wellbeing and addressing internalised racism), how to live well within the Church, and how to live well within our communities and wider society.
“As we navigate these questions, we will see how drawing from Jesus, the living well, is the key,” Bishop Smitha said.
“It’s going to be a really exciting day and it’s significant that it’s here because I think of Leeds as the London of the north, with all its complexity and diversity.”
This conference will draw upon the Church of England's Living Ministry's report from the study exploring the well-being experiences of Global Majority Heritage (GMH) clergy led by Selina Stone.
The speakers for the event are:
- Revd Dr Evie Vernon, a Jamaican Educator who has worked in the Caribbean and the UK, presently an Honorary Assistant Curate, St Mildred’s Croydon, Trustee of Inclusive Church, and Former Theological Advisor to USPG.
- Canon Sanjee Perera - Cognitive Psychologist and Ecclesiologist, Associate at Virginia Theological Seminary, and formerly Archbishops' Advisor on Minority Ethnic Affairs, Church of England.
- Revd Canon Dr. Peniel Rajkumar, Theologian and Director of Global Mission at USPG.
