BBC’s The One Show has featured ordinand Lizzy Brothwood from our diocese in a special report on 30 years of women priests.
Lizzy, who previously attended St Matthias in Burley, Leeds, began ordination training at Trinity College Bristol in 2021 and is on track to be ordained Deacon in 2024, as is her husband Matt.
“It was a privilege to be asked to share my experiences of being a female ordinand at Trinity College in Bristol, alongside two other great women I have met here.,” Lizzy said.
“I am aware of the many challenges we still face, but I continue to be inspired by the many women who have paved the way before us and look ahead with excitement at the opportunities going forward.
“I hope this piece encourages younger people, especially women, to pursue their vocation whatever that may be."
