One of our Bradford area churches are bringing prayers into their area with a ‘Rug of Prayers’.
Residents in the parish served by Denholme Shared Church have donated old t-shirts which have been cut into strips to weave a rag rug.
Prayers and names are written on each strip of fabric and the team of weavers pray as they weave these prayers into the rug.
Helen Miller, church member and involved with the project, said: “We launched the project at Denholme Children’s Gala on Saturday, July 2, and people came to visit our stall and request or write their prayers.
“Over the coming weeks the Rug of Prayers will be at our church services on Sundays and for our monthly Messy Church service but will also be taken to other places; schools, the local library, sheltered housing complex, and for some outdoor sessions in the park.
“We are hoping to engage more local people in prayer and to use the idea to reach out to our village with God’s love.”
