One of our Bradford area churches has been helping people get away this summer without needing to go anywhere, thanks to their Holidays at Home program.
St Stephen’s Steeton with Eastburn recently hosted a Scottish themed holiday event in their church hall for people in their area to get a taste of the country without needing to leave their village.
Lynda Corser, a member of St Stephen’s Social and Fundraising Team, said: “The hall was decked with a fantastic backdrop painted by two extremely talented members of the community.
“We kicked off at 10:30 with refreshments (and shortbread of course) and then had a couple of games of prize bingo.
“People were invited to have their photograph taken against a backdrop of Scottish scenery and these were printed out and presented to them in a card to take home.
“A hot lunch and choice of delicious desserts was served.
“We started the afternoon with some Scottish music and a quiz, followed by a card game which gave everyone a small prize to take home.
“The tradition of crowning Miss Holidays at Home took place before an afternoon tea of sandwiches and cake was served, and we were entertained by a very talented accordionist.
“It was certainly a day of fun, food and friendship.”
