The Diocese of Leeds and Wakefield Cathedral are seeking to appoint an experienced priest with passion and aptitude for enabling lay ministry to flourish across the diverse contexts of the Church of England. As a lay training practitioner and missioned-focussed Residentiary Canon, they will join a Lay Training Team and Cathedral committed to advancing the diocesan vision for Confident Christians, Growing Churches, Transforming Communities.

With a commitment to building up the ministry of the whole people of God across the diverse contexts and traditions of the Church of England, they will engage in the development and delivery of a range of training pathways and programmes, while contributing to the worshipping life and outreach of a vibrant cathedral.

The successful candidate will have the capacity to work collaboratively, train lay people from differing backgrounds effectively, both in-person and online, and contribute to the life and mission of a diverse-membership cathedral with a broadly catholic tradition. An ordained member of the Church of England for at least six years, they will a well-organised, self-motivated, prayerful team player, flexibly accommodating the demands and opportunities of a combined role.

There is an Occupational Requirement for the post holder to be a practising Christian and Clerk in Holy Orders in the Church of England, in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010. For clergy applying to this role, your Area/Suffragan Bishop must be informed of your applications at the earliest opportunity. Furthermore, you must seek a Diocesan Bishop’s Licence in order to be eligible for a new role, and please be aware that granting a licence is subject to a CCSL from your Area/Suffragan Bishop.
